How I Work
A more active and focused approach.
You’ve likely spent time trying to understand your reactions and patterns—thinking things through, gaining insight.
And yet, certain patterns continue to repeat.
This is common. The roots of these patterns often lie deeper than conscious
understanding can reach. That’s why insight alone rarely creates lasting change.
My work focuses on the emotional roots where these patterns are actually formed and
maintained-–so that change can be experienced, not just understood.
An active, experiential approach for deeper change
Rather than only talking about your experience, we work with it together as it arises in the
moment. Using Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), we gently
explore the feelings and protective patterns that appear in real time. So that real, felt change
becomes possible. This evidence-based approach allows for deeper, more lasting change
Sessions are collaborative, purposeful, and attuned to you.
What You Can Expect in Sessions
Close, moment-to-moment attention to what arises in the room
Gentle exploration of the anxiety and protective patterns that show up
Direct work with emotions as they emerge — moving from reflection into lived experience
A pace that respects your capacity while gradually building your tolerance for deeper
emotional processing
Sessions are typically 90 minutes long, giving us sufficient time for meaningful depth, while
remaining focused and contained. The pace is always adapted to your needs and rhythm.
What changes over time
Clients commonly notice:
A quieter mind with less rumination and internal pressure
Greater ease and choice in relationships instead of repeating old patterns
Improved energy levels, reduced physical symptoms (tension, fatigue, headaches)
More emotional clarity and freedom— the ability to feel more fully and respond more authentically
A calmer, more grounded presence in daily life
The first meeting
Our initial 90-minute consultation is a calm, focused conversation. We'll explore your current
difficulties and how they are organised. You’ll also get a clear sense of how I work.
There is no pressure – it’s simply an opportunity for us both to see if this feels like a good fit.
If you decide to move forward, we can outline a path that matches the depth you’re looking for.
Why ISTDP Works So Well
ISTDP (Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy) is particularly effective for people
who are already capable, responsible, and successful in many areas of life, yet sense that
something deeper is holding them back.
Unlike traditional talk therapy that can remain mostly intellectual, ISTDP works directly with the
emotional and physiological roots of long-standing patterns. This leads to faster and more lasting
change.
Key benefits include:
Deeper, felt change instead of just new insights — You move beyond understanding
your patterns to actually experiencing emotional freedom and relief.
Rapid reduction in internal pressure and overthinking — Many clients notice a
quieter mind and less mental exhaustion within weeks.
Improved relationships and presence — Greater emotional availability, easier
connections, and fewer repeating conflicts or distance.
Restored energy and reduced physical symptoms — Less chronic tension, fatigue,
headaches, and better overall vitality as emotional blocks are resolved.
This active, moment-to-moment approach respects your intelligence and capacity while gently
working at the level where real transformation happens.
